Aquarius & the risks of desensitization

Okay first and foremost: astrology (like history) doesn't repeat, but it rhymes. This is both macro and micro, so let me make a stupid point first and then I'll make a good one. I have a tooth that's bothering me. I don't fuck around with my teeth when it comes to discomfort (learned the hard way), so I immediately went to the dentist. Verdict: it's either nothing or it's really bad and expensive and I have to wait it out to determine the outcome. Guess who didn't feel better about that? But then I realized that my original issues with the same tooth began when I had a Pluto to Saturn transit and I once again have a Pluto to Saturn transit, just a different aspect, and I'm in a different shade of the same situation. The older you get, the more this happens (because you have more fodder for the universe to throw back at you, and I assume it cackles merrily when it does this). So that's micro. Now macro: last time Pluto was in Aquarius? French revolution. "Let them eat cake." People getting pretty mad about oppression (I'm actually thinking about Iran while writing this). Who has power? The people, or the oppressors? Results vary.

Here's the other thing, speaking once again as an Aquarian (maybe I should change the name of this to Aquarian Hot Takes, but it would get a lot shorter): the sign is both very social and very independent, because it's casual-social, not up-in-your-face-let's-be-best-friends-and-hug-constantly social (that's Cancer/Pisces/sometimes Libra social). Aquarius follows rules it agrees with, not rules for the sake of rules (that's Capricorn), and Aquarius is with you until it's not. The more combative Aquarians will start to debate you the instant they disagree, and the less combative will just leave. Like, you think they're with you and you're on the same team, and then you look back, and where did they go? (Not having a good time. Decided your ideas were dumb. Byeeee!) Again, we deserve our reputation.

But look, lately I see on social media this insistence that we expose ourselves to traumatizing shit, like watching the murder of Renee Good or personally parsing the more dark shit from the Epstein files. Then there's the knowledge that social media (created with Neptune in Aquarius, btw) is engineered to keep you engaged and shows you more and more extreme shit to incite emotions and keep you locked in. This is Bad Aquarius. There's actually a difference in parsing information like this as a group activity, because when you're around other people, there's more of a cushion and you can process shared sensations. You get validated. You glued to a screen traumatizing yourself: who does that help? Sure, it's important to be informed, but I believe the facts of a situation as reported without having to personally see it (assuming all the accounts I read are in agreement). As an empath...no. Can't do it. Good for you if you're desensitized enough that you can handle being casually traumatized but maybe think about why that is and what that does to your own humanity/empathy over time (spoiler: it needs to be extreme for you to care). We are being exposed to an incredible amount of bad information that is not possible for us to process in real time, let alone by ourselves. Oversimplifying it or pretending it doesn't exist is also tempting, which I think is actually part of the Neptune in Aries trap (coming soon! But also it started already last year). I'm not sure what the solution is, but I'm pretty sure if you started a Bad News Only-esque book club, no one would attend your meetings. There is strength in numbers and weakness trying to handle a bunch of shit alone, so just keep that in mind and make decisions accordingly. Do not sequester yourself and doom scroll. You will lose.

Aquarius is stone cold on a bad day. People (who still have souls they are in contact with) are usually not. Trying to carry an incredible amount of mental weight will disempower you with Pluto in Aquarius. Aquarian Hot Take: don't.

Bonus hot take: machines are not human and humans are not machines.
