Oppositions and reality checks

Everything from Mars out to Pluto opposes the sun at some point in its retrograde cycle, meaning that, relative to earth, the sun and the planet are opposite each other at a 180° angle (and the earth is in between them). If you’re an intuitive person, sun oppositions are a peak time to pay attention to what’s going on in your life, and what messages the opposition has for you. With the exception of Mars, sun oppositions happen annually. Currently, the sun is beginning to oppose Pluto.

Think of it this way: every year (Mars is every 2 years), when the sun conjoins the planet in question, it’s the beginning of a new cycle. Often, events happen around the conjunction that repeat themselves around the opposition.  If you’re an avid journaler or someone who keeps records of what happens every day, look up what was going on around January 18 and compare it to now. The opposition is a midway point in the year for whatever Plutonian trends you’ve got going on, so it’s a checkup, *especially* if you have an active Pluto transit, to acknowledge how things are going. Are you feeling wildly empowered? Wildly disempowered? Need to throw everything out and start again? With Pluto, it’s usually the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The other thing that oppositions tend to bring up is face-offs. You might be up against a sinister or powerful being, or perhaps you have someone who drops psychological knowledge or insight on you right about now. Either way, pay attention, and use the information you gather now to make choices about what to do next. This is in no way foreboding, it’s just interesting.
