The case of Matthew Perry and Julia Roberts

I spent time listening to Matthew Perry's audiobook over the weekend, which was interesting and sad. If you look at his chart, he had Mercury-Pluto on his south node, sun square Neptune and moon opposite Saturn. When both your sun and your moon are in harsh aspect with outer planets, you're going to have an uphill battle in life to learn how to work with these energies effectively, since they'll be part of your daily experience. Pluto on the south node could easily be a marker of being pulled back into self-destruction.

Perry talked about his relationship with Julia Roberts, which happened around season 2 of Friends. I looked at Roberts' chart, and it was sweet, really: her moon is conjunct his sun and his sun was conjunct her moon. To even have one of those is a sign of great rapport, and to have both almost never happens. She is late Cancer rising, and at the time they dated, Uranus was conjunct her descendant (meaning opposite her ascendant and at the beginning of her 7th house of relationships). The relationship was unstable and didn't stay together (it was probably also exciting, but I can't speak to her experience, obviously).

Cut to present day: Perry has died, and guess what's conjunct her descendant? Pluto: another outer planet. The textbook description of Pluto transiting your house of relationships is that your partnership as you know it changes beyond recognition. Another thing that can happen, though, is the death of someone you were/are in a relationship with (this is also true of Pluto/Venus transits or natal aspects, and Roberts has a Venus-Pluto natal conjunction to begin with). Most of us don't have outer planets transiting our house of relationships very often in our lifetime, by the way.

So is it a coincidence that Pluto is at the very beginning of Julia Roberts' 7th house right now? It's been almost 3 decades, but I wouldn't be surprised if 1. Perry's death reactivated 1995 vibes and 2. she took it hard.
