Enter a room

Rising signs and any planets rising with that sign (10 degrees of the ascendant either way is rising, don't let anyone tell you otherwise) color the way you behave without thinking. Period, the end. (Your moon sign and location of the moon are your subconscious needs, and your sun sign is the stuff you do that comes naturally to you, but you think plenty about doing that stuff.) Today we're just talking rising signs and rising planets.

So, your assignment today: walk into a room. Or watch other people whose rising signs you know do the same thing. Here's a gross overgeneralization of how it's going to go:

Fire signs: all about presenceAries (also Mars rising): I'm here. What are we doing?Leo: (also Sun rising): I'M HERE!!!! (wants someone or everyone to notice)Sagittarius (Jupiter rising): I'm here. What's exciting in here?

Water signs: all the feelings Cancer (moon rising): how do I feel now that I am in this room? (they are most likely to arrive to the room in a group and are gauging the feelings of others about the room, as well)Scorpio (Pluto rising): how are people reacting to my emotional presence and are there any threats to my safety in this room?Pisces (Neptune rising): what are the vibes in here?

Air signs: information gatheringGemini (Mercury rising in an air sign): what's in this room (that I can play with)?Libra (Venus rising in an air sign): who's in this room? (if no one is there: is this room aesthetically pleasing?)Aquarius (Uranus rising): what's in this room that's relevant to my interests?

Earth signs: settling inTaurus (Venus rising in an earth sign): how can I make myself comfortable in here?Virgo (Mercury rising in an earth sign): what about this room is going to make me uncomfortable? (starts fidgeting immediately)Capricorn (Saturn rising): what am I going to accomplish in here? Or: what do I need to have physically in order to get some stuff done in this room?

Obviously this is mostly facetious and meant to give you a rough idea of how ascendants work. But as I was rereading this to post it, I thought of Michel Richards as Kramer, and looked up his chart. While he's Cancer rising, he has both Mercury in Cancer and *the sun in Leo* on his ascendant, and the sun/Leo part accounts for "I'M HERE." Feel me?
