Feeling stifled?

The reason for that, and an upcoming opportunity!

We are now officially at the point where only 120° out of 360° in the sky contain planets and it's going to be like this until June, and then life will slowly seem to expand into more interesting and fun opportunities. This happened in 2020 and 2022, and here we are again. This is the last round of this sense of energy constriction for a good long while, but it's been a perfect storm, sky-wise.

So what I want you to understand about a lack of energy in two-thirds of your chart is no energy = no action. One-third of your chart has seen SO much traffic over the past 5 years or so, and the rest of it has only received sporadic and sparse attention. We're back in that space where things are concentrated. This is important to remember if you're feeling stifled right now. It's not that nothing's moving: the planets in one-third of the sky are SLOW moving, and they've been crawling around making a lot of noise and causing energy and action in the same part of your charts, over and over again.

But let's say that you want to make changes to your home. That's a 4th house matter. If this backlog of energy is NOT in your 4th house, and no transiting planet is making aspects to the planet that rules your 4th house* (which oversees "home" as a concept), you are probably going to have to wait until one of those two things happens. If the one-third of the sky energy IS in your 4th house, you would probably like to STOP making changes to your home. That's the problem: there's no happy medium.

I know I said this already, but it bears repeating: if your birthday is between now and June, you're really going to want to look at your next solar return** and plan accordingly, because you'll have concentrated energy in 3-4 houses and not much at all elsewhere. This is important because you'll want to match your goals with the energy you have available and adjust your expectations. Let's say you want it to be a big travel year, but the huge chunk of energy is in houses 4-7: unless Jupiter's doing a lot of nice things in that return chart, you may not have the travel year you are hoping for, and you may want to adjust accordingly. I love solar returns because they're extremely useful for stuff like this, but even more so for coming up with a strategy for doing what you want to do with the energy you have available. For me, it's like doing a crossword puzzle: if I know what you’re trying to do, I can usually help you find the energy to get you where you’re trying to go.

Personally, I've had so much traffic in my 12th house, which is subconscious/psychic/sleep. I could go on and on and on about my weird dreams, but they're best described as "jarring randomness." I'll have two months coming up with 5 planets in my 12th house, and let me tell you: it is VERY hard to stay asleep and also function as a normal person in society with that much traffic in your 12th house. That's too much energy at once. It becomes a struggle to not wander around and say weird shit to people, which is already a pretty high risk for me anyway. My daytime coworkers are not interested in me telling them what's going on with their energy and which of their dead relatives are hanging out with them at the moment. I’ll basically need a minder to force me to shut up and be normal.

So all of that is not terribly exciting, but here's one thing that is: in April and May, Jupiter and Uranus will be conjunct in the sky. This is one of my favorite sky times, and it happens every 14 years. Bias alert: I have one of these conjunctions in my birth chart and it is my favorite part of my chart, so you might not love this as much as I love this. It tends to manifest as random opportunities out of nowhere to do weird shit (which makes my life interesting and also confusing if you don't know me well). If you're born in April and May, lucky you: you get this energy all year. But for the rest of us, we have two months of the energetic potential to work with.

To operate this energy correctly, you need one tool, and that is open mindedness. Prepare yourself to say "sure" to things that might be interesting and are also non-life-threatening. Here are some practice questions: do you want to hang out with a giraffe? Do you want to tour the basement of the Capitol Building? Would you like to try Malort***? The thing this conjunction reliably does is make life interesting, but it's a mental/intellectual type of interesting, even though this conjunction will happen in Taurus (an earth sign, not known for being interesting). People born at this time might have really innovative ideas for making money, again due to the fact that it's in Taurus, and you might, too, at the time, but you have to be open minded. (You also might have to spend a little money with this one, because again, the sign's Taurus.)

I was comparing notes with another person with this conjunction, and we were both talking about surgeries we have observed in person. Neither of us has ever worked in a medical profession (despite this, I was issued scrubs and a hospital name tag at the age of 17, even though I did not work there) and the surgeries were on people we did not know. Both of us have a perfectly reasonable explanation for how we got there: it was mostly that we had the opportunity and we said yes. She fainted and I got kicked out, incidentally, and these experiences helped us realize that a career in medicine was not in our respective futures.

How did I wind up on the promotional materials for an architecture firm? Someone asked me if I wanted to rollerblade down a hallway for a photo shoot that lasted until 1 AM and I said yes. A lot of people would say "no, I want to go to bed." Fair. But if it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, or at least unlikely to repeat very often, and it's April or May, then please remember: saying no might result in a situation you live to regret. I like the phrase "I'll sleep when I'm dead" for these types of situations.

Get ready. Practice!

*In english: the sign at the beginning of your 4th house has a "ruler" and when a transit hits that ruler, things occur relevant to that house, even if the ruler is found in a different house in your chart.
**A solar return is a chart generated on your birthday with the energy you have available to you for the next year.
