"I told you so"

The charming attributes of air signs

I don't have a ton of air in my chart, but my sun is in an air sign, which is more than enough. I read, I keep up with what's going on in the world, pop culture knowledge is important to me, and if I don't watch the current popular thing on Netflix or HBO or whatever, I at least read up on the plot so I can follow along when people are talking about it. Growing up, I wasn't allowed to watch TV most of the time or go to movies that had certain ratings (my dad took the MPAA age guide seriously), which was socially crippling, so when people were talking about certain movies I wasn't allowed to see, I learned to fake it by getting enough information on plot points and then extrapolating. It made people mad in college when I told them I hadn't done the reading and then came up with a good answer for the professor when I inevitably got called on. I'd turn around and find my friends glaring at me, because I'd given a good answer without knowing what I was talking about. It's not a skill I'm proud of, but it's useful.

I love fellow air signs because you can be discussing 5 things at once, pick one of the topics to focus on, then circle back to a different one, then go on a tangent, then come back, and not only do they have high tolerance for this, but you can feel them right there with you. They can easily imagine things you're talking about or put themselves in theoretical situations with some amount of ease without getting stuck there. They can understand someone else's opinion without taking it personally, as long as that other person is not saying "you are wrong and here is why."

You have to warn people with less air when you're changing topics, or if you're deviating briefly from what you're talking about only to come back: you don't want to lose them. Air signs will more easily make the connection to where you're going and why, intellectually, and even if they don't, they can follow you there. Or you can send them randomness for no reason and they enjoy that, too. It's fun for us to go 5,000 miles in one direction, intellectually, and then switch and go somewhere else. I think it probably drives earth signs nuts when we do it, though.

Another thing I find funny: I TELL people stuff. I will say "the office looks like Christmas threw up" and then two weeks later the person I said that to will visit the office and say "oh my god this is a lot of Christmas" and I have to restrain myself from saying "yeah, I told you." I feel like telling people should be enough, but not everyone works that way. Moreover, if someone says a fact to me, I don't need to see physical evidence of it, but fire signs LOVE show and tell. I recently walked a fire sign over to a spectacle so they could see it for themselves and I felt SO weird about it. I also had a different fire sign telling me about stuff they liked and then sending me everything so I could experience it, too, and I wondered why *I* had to watch this stuff because *they* liked it (and I thought to myself "I believed you.") Air signs are all tell and we'll show you if we absolutely have to.

Sometimes it feeds my ego when I'm told I'm right, but most of the time I'm stating what I believe to be a fact or stating what I see, so of course I'm right: I said what I saw. I do realize that different elements take in information differently. If you don't have any air, being told isn't enough. You have to see it or you have to experience it, but...I told you!

I know, I know.
