If social media platforms had sign rulers

Let's pretend they do

I thought I would mix things that do not go together as a teaching tool. So the following is what energy I think current social media platforms embody and why. These are open to debate (seriously, I LIKE talking about this stuff) and subject to change, since social media obviously evolves like crazy.

I think social media, generally, is a Gemini concept because it's quickly-accessed information on what's happening right now, AND because Gemini has an interesting relationship with the truth. Gemini just likes an abundance of information, but it does not require that all of it be accurate.

TikTok: GeminiRationale: Everyone's on it despite the fact that we have no idea what China's doing with all of our information. TikTok is always trying to convince me that I have ADHD and that men are terrible—is China trying to undermine us or is it just the side of TikTok I'm on? Also, I'm always wondering what side of TikTok I'm on. BookTok is cool, CornTok was ridiculous and if you don't know what I'm talking about, that's a Gemini thing, too, so you can either ask me or just nod along and pretend you understood what I said. Finally, there are some people on TikTok who make bonkers conspiracy videos and then others who spend a considerable amount of time and effort debunking them. Gemini loves a good argument.

Twitter: formerly Gemini, currently the dark side of AquariusRationale: I'm sure there are parts of Twitter that remain a way to get information. But its owner does not inspire confidence and keeps doing horrifying things like reactivating accounts of people who say and do terrible things and then saying "blah blah blah free speech"/"freedom of ideas"/"freedom to be a seditious asshole" and THAT, my friends, is the dark side of Aquarius, where you get in the mode of "all things being equal" and don't stop to consider that in fact all things are not equal and some people are way more dangerous if given a microphone/platform. Aquarius is also haughty as fuck when it’s on its high horse.

Instagram: PiscesRationale: Ah, Instagram. The land of what you wish was true. Ya'll. My food doesn't look like that. Also, the concept of "influencer" is very Piscean: someone who can subtly make you do stuff. Plus you can scroll forever and feel vaguely bad about yourself and then start using the word "aspirational" a lot. All of that is Pisces: dreams vs. reality.

Facebook (or “Meta” 🙄): Capricorn, veering into TaurusRationale: The thing about Capricorn you may not realize is that it needs to *preserve* its status, and will sometimes flail about doing so while puffing itself up as a thought leader or whatever. Remember when Meta was telling us the next thing we needed were VR headsets? Maybe we do? But also: maybe we don't? Capricorn is about being the boss, so when Meta told us what the future was, we were expected to listen, and then we did not listen, and then they were upset. On the other hand, people are telling Meta what they want to see more of and Meta, like most overlords, is not listening. I added Taurus because that's as conservative as Capricorn but in a different way: values. People on Facebook talk a lot (or show a lot) about what their values are, or say stuff that illustrates them. I'm nostalgic for when Facebook had Gemini energy. I'm trying to remember when it was last seen... (I think it went from Gemini to Aquarius—remember when they found out that we DO in fact care if they influence elections—and now to Capricorn, and if it gets to Taurus fully it will truly be a joke).

Debate me!
