Missed calls

From Pluto 😬😬😬

The sun is conjuncting Pluto in a couple of days, which actually means that the sun is between us and Pluto, or the earth has moved to the opposite of where Pluto is in the galaxy and the sun is blocking our view of it...if we could see through the sun, or see Pluto at all, which we can't (without a telescope). The sun and Pluto are both in Capricorn, so this puts a spotlight on where Pluto is transiting in your chart, and that spotlight is one of awareness. For 80% of you, that means becoming aware of the feeling that something's gotta die: you have to make some kind of change or adjustment or stop doing something or start doing something in order to feel empowered. For most of you, it's something pretty minor. And it's just about becoming aware of what that thing is without ignoring that sensation. To add to this, there's a new moon at this time. Those are about new beginnings. For a very small percentage of you, this new beginning is coming after a total wipeout.

Two other things are happening at around the same time: first, Venus in Aquarius squares Uranus in Taurus: tension and the urge to break free from something that's restricting your freedom. Then, a few days later Venus (still in Aquarius) conjuncts Saturn in Aquarius. That's a wall of 'no.'

Let's say you become aware that you're in a relationship that's not working (sun-Pluto). Then your significant other breaks up with you (Venus-Uranus). Then after a few days, they have a change of heart after learning it's rough out there and you realize they're not coming back to you because they love you, but because they're scared of being single, so you don't take them back (Venus-Saturn). And then you both have to live with that decision (still Venus-Saturn). (Same thing could happen with a job or a friendship or an investment opportunity, or you need to quit smoking or drinking and realize it's gonna cramp your lifestyle...shit like that.)

Whoever is willing to play in the real-reality is going to be empowered, shitty as it might be, because you're accepting what is rather than pretending to be something you're not. I'm not sure where to collect consolation prizes for realizing you're better off alone than wilting in situations that make you feel less-than, but when that opportunity comes, I will alert you all (or I'll start making certificates myself that read 'THAT SUCKED!').

Capricorn is the sign of gritting your teeth and dealing with whatever's in front of you. Aquarius is the sign of intellectual/mental freedom. There are a LOT of people out there who have fled the pervasive Capricorn energy (that we've had since 2008) into the Neptune in Pisces energy (since 2011) of refusing to acknowledge really big plot holes because they don't like all of this Capricorn reality, because Capricorn reality means that they would have to change something and risk losing things that are precious to them (many of those precious things are simply ideals, or clinging to a social status that comes with having a certain role, which is also a Capricorn deal. Hey, guess what? Going through the motions has never felt emptier, and we all know it.) Capricorn is not exactly a sign of abundance, so the sun-Pluto deal is most likely about something you need to get rid of or stop doing, but it COULD be a nudge to start your own business, because Capricorn's also in charge of that.

Astrology aside, I'm not an optimist. I'm a realist. I have the moon in Capricorn on the MC, a Capricorn south node, Mercury in Capricorn square Pluto, and a Saturn-Pluto conjunction (try being an optimist with this setup—I dare you). I admire people who can look at a garbage fire and see future compost, while I'm going "what are we doing about the fire, though? The fire's the right-now problem. Did any of you call 911?'"

You know what I did when I got my Pluto in Capricorn reality check? (Immediate disclaimer: I didn't know astrology at the time.) Ignored it. It was too big, it was too much, and I knew it would cost me everything. And guess what? It DID! But not before festering and growing bigger because I ignored it, escaping into a fantasy that things could work somehow without major destruction (Neptune in Pisces, ya’ll!), and then everything got worse, and THEN I lost everything. So I'm not just saying all of this to wave my arms around and be dramatic, which I try to avoid anyway. I lived it. I knew I had to make a move and I was too scared to face facts. Now I am my own cautionary tale.

So what you do: take a deep breath and look your reality dead in the eye without flinching. Take stock of it. And know you can slowly make a plan to deal with it, as Capricorn is fine with slow, measured movements. If you're out of your depth, seek assistance immediately (I did in my aforementioned situation—I found a Rent-A-Mom who I paid to care about me and my problems, which was one of my better moves).

Seriously, for some of you, it's gonna be "oh shit I gotta lose 10 pounds." That's doable, if not the most pleasant. But you may also notice some people in your midst who are in the very small percentage of people experiencing a huge gut check. Please reach out to them and make sure they are okay because this is not the sky for neglecting our mental health.

Some of you may be wondering how much longer we have to do this grim gut-check thing. Pluto's at 28° Capricorn. This weary feeling is coming from having had Pluto in Capricorn for a WHILE. We begin to move on this year to a different Pluto adventure, and Pluto will be in Aquarius semi-permanently in 2025, but I fully feel you on the "...really? Still?" But: the marathon continues.

Nerdy sky fact: when the sun conjuncts an outer planet (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto), that means that the planet in question will not retrograde back past the point of the conjunction. So if you're ever trying to figure out whether your outer planet transit is over, this is an easy way to do it.

XO,J
