Resolutions!

After learning astrology, I realized I really don’t see the point of New Year’s resolutions anymore. Unless your ascendant is at 11 degrees Capricorn, where the sun consistently is on January 1--and that's the only thing that happens every year on this date--what's the point of resolving to do something specific when it's relatively arbitrary from the sky's point of view?

Better times to resolve to do something:

  • Your birthday

  • When the planet that rules your chart returns to the sign and degree it was in when you were born (assuming that happens--depends on what your chart ruler is)

Even then, I would check your solar or planetary return chart to see if the goal you're thinking about is supported by the energy you have at your disposal. Usually when I'm reading for people, they either have amazing energy for what it is they have in mind, goal-wise, or their chart is catastrophically stacked against them trying to do what they're doing, they feel this on some level, and that makes the goal even more enticing. Some people love a challenge.

But let's say you're really hell-bent on a New Year's resolution. Well, I have some thoughts on what you could resolve to do:

  • this could be the year that you decide to slow yourself down and get really grounded and present (and way less anxious). Stop being a slave to your inbox and your devices. Tell Alexa where she can stick it. Go be in nature and maybe plant some trees while you're there.

  • this could also be the year that you do a psychological Big Dig and get over the past crap that's still haunting your present. It would be hard work, but if it would improve your quality of life in the long-term...might be worth it, right?

This advice is based on the fact that the transiting lunar nodes are going to shift from Sagittarius/Gemini to Scorpio/Taurus (South/North) and will be in these signs for all of 2022 after January 18. Scorpio shit is about to become LOUD, which will likely inspire a few of you to address old emotional cobwebs. If you want to do the less fun version, you could tackle your finances with this energy. I suppose that's a possible third resolution...

XO,

J
