Which god did you offend?!?

Obviously a powerful one.

Well... you guys keep not getting offended at the things I think will surely offend someone, so I guess I'll have to try harder. Let's talk about the completely non-controversial topic of god. Or God. Or Goddess. Or gods. Or Nobody. Pick your favorite. My meaning here is: a very large force, beyond your control, that seems to have some say in the workings/order of the universe, or lack thereof. "Big G" for today's purposes, to pick the most crass and also the most personally amusing.

The thing is, where astrology is concerned, there are two versions of Big G: the 9th house/Sagittarius type and the 12th house/Pisces type. The more you look at your chart and the charts of your nearest and dearest, you will begin to detect the split between the perceptions of the two, both by their belief system and what happens when Big G seems to be mad at them. (If they lack energy in these signs and houses, this topic will probably be less interesting to them.) If you think I am being facetious: I am not. Overgeneralizing, yes (I am eternally guilty of this). Kidding, no.

The 9th house/Sagittarius perception: there are a set of morals and standards I should live by, that, if followed, will keep me in the graces of Big G. When good things happen: I am a good person and am being rewarded. When bad things happen: I must have violated one of Big G's major tenants, and angered Big G. Remedy: right the wrong, do penance. Problem with the 'remedy': you spend waaaay too much time searching for the right recipe of penance to undo whatever you did to offend an angry Big G (and guess who you get mad at if your attempts at appeasement don't take). If bad things still happen: I am a horrible person (who may or may not be flipping off the sky).

The 12th house/Piscean perception: there is an impersonal force beyond my control and nothing I do seems to impact it. The workings of the universe are beyond my comprehension and personal control. Big G doesn't care about me as an individual. When good things happen: Big G's divine love is pervasive through everything. When bad things happen: this won't matter in 1,000 years/everything will work out somehow (but maybe not for me, personally). Remedy: try to be as good as possible or de-ego yourself so you don't care so much about things most people would interpret as personal affronts.Problem with the 'remedy': as a human person, you have an ego, and destroying it makes you both less of who you are and less willing to fight for anything...at all, so you just become a complacent lump.

If bad things still happen: I guess I'm not supposed to be happy.

Please note that I don't have a particular prescription for dealing with either one of these permutations of Big G, I am just pointing out the high and low points here so you can see them if you personally have a lot of Sagittarius/9th house or Pisces/12th house activity (and we all have plenty of Pisces going on right now due to the current sky with Saturn and Neptune there). The Sagittarius type sounds a lot like some major religious organizations, and the Pisces type is more Buddhist in nature, yes? The difference is the ability to use personal will and agency in the 9th house, while that is absent in the 12th house, so all you can do in the 12th house is work to take the ego sting out of bad developments by diminishing that ego to microscopic proportions.

Having spent a whole lot of time around both types, and with energy in both signs, myself, my comment is that both are dangerous, and be very careful what you ascribe deep meaning to, especially when things are going very well or very badly. You can convince yourself that a lot of things that might not turn out to be true in the long run, because you're probably not a horrible person and you're probably not meant to be unhappy forever. Just sayin'.
