You thought

When reality isn't real 🔱

One thing that Neptune transits often coincide with is disillusion: you find out the way you thought the world works is, in fact, not. If I've learned one thing from the observing and advising that has come with understanding astrology, it is this: people do NOT do well with disillusion. Most of the time they would rather have a major organ removed than have their world view changed.

I have two cases in point that came to me on the same day: one is private, one is public. I'll start with the private one: this is someone who has several planets in Pisces, so, already, not a wildly realistic individual. Currently, Neptune is conjuncting her Mercury, meaning that Neptune's influence is further distorting already somewhat distorted perceptions (sorry, people with Mercury in Pisces, but unless you have other chart factors that make you wildly realistic, you're going to be lacking in this area), and a confluence of factors have resulted in conversations about her attitude, which probably *seem* to her like they're out of nowhere, but really her attitude has always been a problem and she had someone protecting her who left. It probably feels like she's drowning (Neptune) in a sea of criticism (Mercury), but if your opinion of yourself (partially Mercury) is based on nothing (Pisces)...uh...good luck.

The second example is Marc Maron. He's not someone I pay much attention to, so I don't have a whole lot of data about him, but I watched a video of him yesterday talking about assuming that his life would work out with his partner and then she died suddenly (emphasis on suddenly: she was diagnosed with cancer and basically dropped dead after that). Maron's chart was *lit up* when that happened, and I've written before about the fact that multiple, simultaneous harsh outer transits usually result in major life upheavals where all you can really do is wait for the dust to settle: he had Pluto conjuncting his moon, Uranus conjuncting his ascendant (assuming his birth time is accurate) and opposing his Mars, and Neptune opposing his Mercury *and* entering his twelfth house, and the south node entering his 8th house. If you had one or two of those, sure, you'd have some change, but all of them at once is so much. Since this is primarily about Neptune, though, I'm going to focus on the fact that his assumption that everything would work out was ripped away really suddenly (the "suddenly" part is Uranus, by the way). It changed the way he perceives that life works, and it changed him. That much is obvious.

Think about a time in your life when you were convinced of something and you found out it wasn't the case. There's a good chance it still haunts you. If you want to do further research, get a friend drunk* and ask them about a time they got disillusioned. The alcohol will enable the telling of the whole truth rather than the oversimplification of circumstances. Then look at your chart or their chart for the time period in question, and you will find Neptune by transit or progression.

Another, slightly different but still frequent occurrence with Neptune is knowing something isn't true, but wishing it could be. You'll see that sometimes. A risk in either case is getting stuck for years or decades because you're still salty that you have to accept the unpalatable truth. People sometimes don't recover from their bad transits, and this one in particular is an easy trap to fall into. Remember: acceptance is the key to peace.

Some food for thought.
