Saturn in Aries

Allegedly, anyway

Astrology is pretty easy to understand if you can grasp the basic concepts of a planet and a sign and then squint and pretend they're mashed together. What does Aries want? To go fast! What does Saturn want? To go slow! Do they mix well? They do not! Know what Saturn-Mars combinations are associated with? Headaches and arthritis. Inflammation generally.

Wherever Saturn is, you're working, whether you like it or not. So locate Aries in your chart (♈️) and whichever house it's in, expect to work (look up the subject matter of that house…or ask me). What type of work is Aries work? It has to do with your will. With Aries, you can get shit done if you focus and muster strength, courage, and power. You will fail if you let yourself get out of shape, and I mostly mean that metaphorically, but it could be literal if you've been ignoring your gym routine. Mars+Saturn combinations are good for weight training and challenging cardio. Not dinky hand weights and not Zumba (no offense intended to enthusiasts). Saturn in Pisces can do yoga all day, but Saturn in Aries needs to sweat.

The other thing Saturn represents (regardless of sign) is fear. Generally, Saturn in Aries is afraid of self-assertion. People with Saturn in Aries can be afraid of what happens when they get angry, judgmental about how other people behave when they're pissed, or they could...work in the military (because where you have Saturn, you're working). I mostly know people with Saturn in Aries who are unfailingly polite, which makes me side-eye them, because as Aries rising (no Saturn involved) I am not. I did have two grandparents with Saturn in Aries though: one was really, really nice and the other was very concerned with me being nice.

So here's the complicating factor: Saturn's conjuncting Neptune in Aries, and they're not quite making 100% contact right now, they're just getting really, really close to each other. Actual contact happens next February. Like I said a few weeks ago, if you have energy in the 0-1° of just about any sign (not Taurus or Pisces), this impacts you...somehow. But the immediate grit of Saturn in Aries will not be felt very much, because Neptune's going to hold that back and just make us all feel frightened and apprehensive, because that's what Saturn-Neptune conjunctions do. Often you have to make your resources last quite a long time.

Therefore, for the summer of Saturn in Aries (this one, right now): I'd say if you have to make sustained, focused effort, you're going to also want to have some kind of detachment practice because the ultimate outcome is going to be out of your hands. Go with the flow and try hard when needed. If things don't work out you'll be able to say you did your best. Next spring is going to have more of a true Saturn in Aries vibe once Saturn gets free from Neptune. This current situation is just weird, and that's not me trying to get around making definitive statements: with this energy you literally can't.

Saturn heads back into Pisces first thing in September. Anecdotally: you know what I noticed about Saturn in Pisces? It's been picking off spiritual leaders and people who work in "woo" careers. My mentor literally died last winter, but some of the people I was learning from in the woo realm quit their work to go do something else because they got burnt out. I figure that's a combo of Saturn and Neptune in Pisces: killing off some of our gurus literally or metaphorically. So we have a little more of that from September - February. 😬
